Well Woman Profile Blood Test

The Well Woman Profile Blood Test is a comprehensive blood test suitable for women of all ages. This blood test establishes base levels of important biomarkers which can be actively tracked for changes. It covers the essential blood tests to gauge overall well-being including a cholesterol check, liver and kidney function analysis, iron levels and vitamin D levels.

Why have a Well Woman Profile Blood Test

This test is recommended for women as part of routine health screening to check for underlying health conditions and includes the following:

Full Blood Count
A full blood count (FBC) test checks for abnormalities in your blood, such as unusually high or low numbers of blood cells.
This common blood test can help to diagnose a wide range of illnesses, infections and diseases.
The following markers are also measured – Glucose, FT4, TSH, CRP, Active B12, Serum Folate, CA125, HbA1c

Cholesterol
Lipids and cholesterol are fat-like substances in your blood. Some are necessary for good health, but when you have a high level of cholesterol in your blood, a lot of it ends up being deposited in the walls of your arteries and other vital organs. Lifestyle choices including diet, exercise and alcohol intake can all influence cholesterol levels and your risk of developing heart disease.

The cholesterol test measures: Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL, LDL, Non-HDL Cholesterol.

Liver Function
Your liver processes drugs and alcohol, filters toxic chemicals, stores vitamins and minerals, and makes bile, proteins and enzymes. This liver function test examines enzymes and other markers for evidence of damage to your liver cells or a blockage near your liver which can impair its function.

The liver function test measures: Albumin, ALP, ALT, Total Protein, Total Bilirubin, GGT, Globulin

Kidney Function
Your kidneys filter waste from your body and regulate salts in your blood. They also produce hormones and vitamins that direct cell activities in many organs and help to control blood pressure. When the kidneys are not working properly, waste products and fluid can build up to dangerous levels creating a life-threatening situation.

The kidney function test measures: Urea, Sodium, Creatinin, eGFR

Iron
Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional problem in the UK. It slows your body’s production of haemoglobin, which your red blood cells need to pick up oxygen from your lungs and carry it to every cell in your body. If you have a shortage of iron you experience symptoms of anaemia, which include feeling breathless after little exercise, feeling tired, heart palpitations and looking pale.

The Iron Test measures: Ferritin, Iron, Transferrin Saturation, TIBC, UIBC
